Wayne Dixon

Yorkshire and the Humber Chairman

Wayne has been active in his local community as a Youth Worker, Connexions Worker and Employment Support Worker for over 13 years as well as volunteering in the community for over 15 years. His many community engagements include being a Trustee of Middleton Elderly Aid, a Board Member of West Yorkshire Association League and a Board Member of Leeds Football Association and South Leeds. In 2004, Wayne founded his local football club to get local people active and to offer young people a positive focus aimed at health and well being. This now offers football to 200 people per week.

Wayne left the Labour Party in 2015, partly due to Labour’s lack of commitment to the local community. Wayne was the SDP candidate for Middleton Park in the Leeds City Council election of 2018 and secured 1,232 votes, beating the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. Why the SDP? Wayne commented, “The UK needs a radical, grassroots centre ground party committed to making a positive impact in our communities.”
