The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has announced David Bettney as the party’s candidate for South Yorkshire Mayor.
David served in the Army for 22 years, completing tours in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan, and rising to the rank of Regimental Sergeant Major. Since leaving the Army, David has built and run several construction, logistics and storage businesses, and is now manager of a group of five companies employing over 350 people.
Born and raised in South Yorkshire, David’s campaign priorities are to champion British and Yorkshire industry, to provide better opportunities for young people, to work rapidly to end homelessness, and to crack down on crime and antisocial behaviour.
David Bettney says:
“I was delighted to go onto the short list, and then actually be selected by the SDP as their South Yorkshire Mayoral candidate.
I am also very grateful to Reform UK for not standing a candidate against me and then giving me their full endorsement.
We have a chance to start taking our country back – one county at a time.
Vote for David Bettney on the 2nd of May, and help the fightback begin.”
William Clouston, Leader of the SDP says:
“David Bettney has championed the interests of South Yorkshire all his life. We urgently need to re-build our industrial base and start making things again. If elected, David will make this his core mission as South Yorkshire Mayor.”
