The Social Democratic Party has appointed Stephen Balogh to the role of Party Chair.
Following a successful 30-year business career, Stephen is now active in non-profit and public policy organisations that promote the flourishing of society through the thoughtful application of socially responsible, small-c conservative politics. He stood as candidate for the SDP in his home constituency of Ealing Central and Acton in the 2024 General Election.
SDP Leader William Clouston commented:
“I offer a warm welcome to Stephen Balogh into his new position as SDP Party Chair. Coming soon after the party’s landmark progress in the general election Stephen’s experience in management and organisation will be indispensable to us. We’re assembling a strong team and we look to the future with great optimism.”
Stephen Balogh responded:
“Exactly as its election manifesto claimed, for me the SDP has been a political homecoming. Alongside our Leader William Clouston and with the great recent addition of Deputy Leader Hilary Salt, as Party Chair I look forward to playing my part in ensuring the SDP operates effectively in spreading recognition of its common-sense policies both locally and nationally – and rapidly increasing grass-roots campaign strength across the country through our Regional Party leadership and growing membership.”
The announcement was made at the SDP’s annual conference in Manchester on 30 November, where the party leadership and members gave their warmest thanks to Valerie Gray for four years of outstanding service in the role of Party Chair.
