Daniel McNay

Chair Wales

Daniel is originally from the North East of England, and moved to Wales following a stint in the armed forces. He has since permanently settled in Wales and raised a young family. He has a keen interest in local matters and Welsh culture in general.
Daniel joined the SDP in 2020 after being attracted to its patriotism, dedication to freedom of expression, centre-left economics and its rejection of political correctness. Despite voting Remain in the EU referendum, the undemocratic attempts to overturn the decision of the British people left him feeling he had no choice but to turn away from Labour in favour of the SDP. Daniel believes the SDP succeeds where all other parties fail when it comes to having just the right balance of liberal, traditionalist and communitarian attitudes.
Daniel is a dedicated supporter of Hartlepool United, and also follows local Welsh side Holywell Town FC. He is also passionate about British and European history.
