London, 06 February 2026 – The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has comprehensively updated its immigration policy.
As the party of the patriotic state, we believe that immigration policy should be under democratic control, based on evidence and made in the national interest. Ending mass immigration reflects and affirms the will of the majority. From leaving the European Union to historical elections and referendums, the current system has denied attempts by voters to have their voices heard.
Our headline proposals include:
- Establishing a migration ‘Red List’ of countries whose migrants to Britain are proven to be disproportionately criminal, welfare dependent or economically inactive. Immigration from such states will cease in all but exceptional circumstances.
- Promoting a permanent solution to illegal immigration which does not undermine public confidence or the notion of border control. Upon arrival, we will immediately transfer all illegal migrants to Ascension Island. All those living in Britain illegally will be deported.
- Prioritising British workers and focus on rebuilding our workforce from within. Britain must train, incentivise, and mobilise its own citizens in every sector, rather than relying on the permanent importing of labour.
- Reducing the undisputed economic harm mass immigration has brought to the country. Decades of mass labour migration have depressed wages, discouraged skills investment, and locked Britain into a low-productivity economic model.
- Withdrawing from the 1951 Refugee Convention, the ECHR and all other international instruments which deny UK border control. Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) will also be overhauled.
- Strengthening cultural sovereignty. Large-scale demographic change has been socially damaging and has occurred without consent. Ending mass immigration permanently will start to repair social trust, security, solidarity, and confidence in the state.
- Withdrawing from the outdated post-WW2 asylum system which was not designed for the mass and global movement of people. As it stands, it is being misused as a vehicle for mass economic migration. Instead, we will support programmes focused on in-region humanitarian aid within and adjacent to conflict zones.
By putting the interests of British citizens first, we will bring about a strong, united, and prosperous Britain.
The nation’s immigration policy must be under democratic control and not ruled by inertia, courts or international frameworks designed for another era. Parliament is and must continue to be sovereign and must have oversight and accountability for voter consent.
William Clouston, SDP Leader, said: “The SDP’s new immigration policy brings it into line with the facts and the real needs of British citizens. The national interest must not be set aside. For decades our leaders have imported millions of migrants without consent – effectively behind the backs of British voters. If we are to remain a democracy worth the name, we must respect the consensus public view. We must shift to a better future where the addiction to mass migration ends, and the British people are trained in the vital skills our country needs.”
