Wednesday Night Fightback 12: Labour, Tory… what’s the story?

Conservative and Labour have 'narrative', but no actual story to tell

By: Editor

In this episode, Michael Taylor and William Clouston discuss the main political parties’ lamentable lack of vision, or ‘story’.

Instead, Labour and Conservative politicians speak of ‘narrative’.

‘Narrative’ is superficial and short-term. It is merely about what sounds good for the current news cycle and can be changed at will. Unlike ‘story’ it does not imply a long-term strategic plan or ambition – and it won’t get houses built.
